HOW TO PROTECT YOUR ENGINE FROM BAD GASOLINE
Step 4: don’t add gas to your car during a rain storm
Step 5: Use fuel additives every 5K miles
Chevron Techron (Fuel system cleaner)
Redline SI-1
Step 6: Replace Fuel Filter every 30K miles (I don’t think I’ve ever done this)
Step 8: drain the tank and run fuel system cleaner through the engine
Fuel Additives That Actually Work
Chevron Techron Concentrate Plus
Redline SI-1 Complete fuel system cleaner
Octane boosters do not work
There are two types of fuel system cleaners: 1 – you just pour it in the gas tank and 2 – 2-part gas tank and engine (30K, 60K, 90K miles – $120 at the autoshop; approximately $120 at Toyota dealership; $399 for non-hybrids; I don’t know if I should do option 1 where I pour it in the gas tank myself)
