"Participating in sports is such a joy," says Provenzano. "Why should we [as gay men] be robbed of this wonderful part of life? This exhibit shows the enormity of the gay athletic community here in the San Francisco Bay Area, how colorful it is and how accomplished these athletes are. I hope it inspires other cities to do the same thing—to have a Hall of Fame for their tremendous athletes."
There is still time to see the exhibit at the at the GLBT Historical Society, which is located at 657 Mission Street, Suite 300 in San Francisco, and is open from one to five o'clock Tuesday to Saturday. It will have its closing festivities on December 13th and will close its doors on December 16, 2006.
