So I'm a big gamer, I've got my xbox 360, playstation 2, and most of the others. What I'm wondering is if it's true that video games are just for straight dudes or something? It seems like all my friends who are into video games are straight and I've yet to find a gay guy who likes them really.

By the way, by saying you're a gamer, I dont mean you played Wii sports at a friends house one time and you kinda liked it. I mean you've purchased a console system and buy games and play at least a few hours a week.

So am I the only gamer who also likes the game hide the sausage?

I used to be a lot worse than I am now, but I'm still def. in the "Gamer" catagory. Of course, I don't have the body of all you guys, either...yet. But I'm working on it! *sigh*

I'm more of a PC gamer, though. My recent poison is Team Fortress 2 and EVE Online. ^_^ I'm waiting on Warhammer Online to come out, and for Christmas I'm hoping for a copy of Assassin's Creed, and/or Guitar Hero III, and/or Mass Effect (all for 360).

Honestly, sometimes I wish all the time I've spent "in-game" over the years I'd spent lifting weights, or running, or whatever. I'm really fighting an uphill battle at this point, trying to go back and undo a lot of idle damage.

I wouldn't go so far as to call myself a gamer. I play games occasionally, but I don't jones for a game months in advance. Except Tiger Woods 08, which was disappointing.

I know where MikePhil is coming from and agree without an equal balance of outdoor/physical activity, the munchie factor while playing can add up fast.

However, there are many cases of playing video games being a great source of stress relief and teaching teamwork (Halo was specifically mentioned; you don't pull your weight, you and your team gets fragged). Not as well as on an actual field, but it's a start. I know that personally, it sometimes helps to unwind after a long day with a game of Madden or a few songs on Guitar Hero. Hell, I just found out that a senior VP at my company is a big-time gamer with a massive HD TV and sound setup. He's also a great guy to work for/with and the least stressed of all the regional VPs. Coincidence? Maybe not.

Another point: many "fun" games are educational in disguise. Schools across the country are cutting music programs, but Guitar Hero is one of the most popular games out there now. No, you're not going to tear it up on a real guitar after playing the game, but it has increased the dialogue about music education/appreciation and guitar retailers have reported increased sales in beginner models and lessons.

People should not stay indoors and play video games all day, but it's wrong to think they are the root of all evil and are a one-way ticket to slobbery.

Everything in moderation, including moderation.

I loves me some video games, always have since the good 'ol days of the NES, Turbo Grafix, Atari 2600 and such. I wish I still had my Intellivision from years back, and that I had my Colecovision with the adapter that let you play the Atari 2600 games. Oh, that was the bestest...

Even those obscure systems, like the Vectrex. So weird and clunky but still it was awesome. But what will always have a special place in my heart is pinball.

I started playing pinball when I was 5 and my dad owned a bar. I wasn't tall enough to see the table so I had to stand on a chair to play, but it was so much fun. I still play pinball, but the video game versions are always a little off with the physics. Nothing beats the real thing.

MikePhil that is totally nuts, haha. Its just a form of entertainment and time management. If you're gonna sit in front of the TV all day and play it then yeah you got yourself a problem. Is it possible that you have an addictive personality? I agree with you isrishboxers, to say videogames are the devil is a pretty extreme view to take.

But to go back on track yeah I'm a gamer, love videogames...Only a Sony player though and getting the PS3 for Christmas which should be good. Mainly a horror game fan myself, silent hill series, resident evil series, forbidden siren etc. Also like final fantasy and tomb raider too...

Silent Hill was the first game that truly made me jump. There's nothing like playing the first one, in the dark, with some surround sound or good quality headphones on. I got goosebumps just thinking about it.

I have the 360 and the Wii and I've been playing video games since the ATARI days!!!! Had all the Nintendos' and a Sega Dreamcast. Also have a Nintendo DS for when I travel. (No cracks on the age!!). For me it's a stress relieving diversion at times. I don't play as much as I would like because life gets in the way, but I try to play on weekends in the evenings and on my days off. Just for a couple of hours. And no my mind is not fu@#$d up either!!!! I'm pretty intelligent, If I do say so myself! And I do!!!!

Don't really care for PC games, but Id like to WoW a try.

I used to be a really big WoW geek - not a 'big' console gamer per-say, however my buddy got his 360 modded so we've got a plethora of games to play. I finished Bioshock in less than a week, and I've started Assassin's Creed (but I'm not really feeling it, lol) and will be playing Mass Effect (which has WAYYYY better graphics than Bioshock) as soon as I've beaten AC.

I love video games, lol. But nothing, I mean NOTHING, beats Pacman.

I have a PS2, but since I started playing City of Heroes and World of Warcraft, my poor PS2 got dusty. It just can't beat being interactive with other people.

Definetly a big gamer here myself. Ahh... I remember the first time I performed my first fatality in Mortal Kombat with Scorpion, And when those dogs jumped through the window in the original Resident Evil and I nearly Shit all over my pants, good times,good times

I only play a few hours a week, but I work in the video game industry and am around games all the time.

I love video games, from my times playing Everquest, to all Guitar Heroes (beat all on expert finally), Hitman, Scarface, countless others as well, have xbox 360, ps2, Wii, and planning on getting PS3 on christmas

Video games are great! A game with a great story and awesome game play can't be beat. I own a 360 and a Wii. Mass Effect and COD4 are games I'm currently playing and they are both fantastic games.

Gamers make great friends. When they make sexual innuendo jokes they usually reference nerdy things like video games. A great example is the first post:

Man I've played video games since I was about 10..... Huge RPG and RTS fan, especially Final Fantasy and Warcraft. I've been playing WoW for about 3 years now, too

But I'm a big time WoW player... well, not big time, but it's the only video game I play regularly (guitar hero and rock band are pretty fun every so often)

Theyre like an addiction ! Right now I only own a sega genesis and PS2 but ive always been in love with sonic, final fantasy line, mortal kombat, kingdom hearts, bloodrayne, kain, resident evil and most anything that involves a lot of gore or some obscure story line. Only game I really play on the PC is Everquest which has lasted about 7 years -.-

Though it seems like games from the era of sega genesis, despite the bad graphics, were really complex not to mention in-depth, like land stalker and sword of vermillion.

Thinking that videos games are only for straight people is, is like saying that gurls can't play them cause they're only for men. It's true you can't find many gay gamers, somethimes it's that social pressure thing that kinda keep most away.

I don't considermyself a hard core gamer, but I try to keep up with all that's out there (who am I kiding i'm still playing FFXII). So long story short, be loud and be a proud gay gamer! Cause I am. LOL!!!

I grew up playing NES (legend of Zelda anyone?), and that has carried on into my adult life. Although I don't have too much time to play anymore with grad school, I have (finally) started DOOM3... and man is it awesome!!!

I have an XBOX and a Gamecube, and of course play PC games.

haha of course there are gay gamers... "gaymers". I'm not a total gamer but I'm addicted to Halo 3 although I've been playing Call of Duty 4 ALOT lately. And if I'm not playing either of those I'm playing gun games on Counterstrike Source! And of course I'm still waiting for Starcraft II to come out

I've played tons of computer games, mostly RTS, FPS and RPGs. I own a PS2 and, when I'm home, play it alot. Xmen, FF12, etc. I used to play Counterstrike, my computer geek friends had built a map of our campus to play on as well... it was a little freaky...

Starcraft, Warcraft, and the Final Fantasy series are really good, though my favorite are the Age of Empire games...

Well I just realized I never said what games I like!

So Final Fantasy is a must. I beat Final Fantasy VII when I was 8 years old. I also beat Final Fantasy Tactics when I was 10. What's weird is I cant beat Tactics now that I'm in my 20's! What the Hell?!!

I'm playing Kingdom Hearts 2 right now on my PS2. Although I just finished Mass Effect a few weeks ago. I LOVE That game. I'm hyped to play Assassin's Creed. I've owned Halo 3 for months, but just havent got around to playing it (crazy I know).

I've been playing video games since I was 3 years old and got my first super nintendo. I have to admit that my older brothers were really the ones who got me into video games in the first place.

I program video games for a living, so you could say I like them.

Of course, 99% of my coworkers over the years have been straight. There's some LGBT presence. It's small. Which is too bad, because the industry is also heavily male, so I always end up working with a bunch of guys, some of whom are invariably very cute, all of whom are straight.

I've been playing the crap out of Rock Band lately. Assassin's Creed, too. I'm waiting until next year to pick up Mass Effect because I want a good chunk of time to play through it without juggling a bunch of other stuff at the same time.

I have a 360, I can't see myself getting a PS3 anytime soon (I'm biased -- that thing is such a pile that I'm angry at Sony and won't buy it out of spite; on the other hand there's like one game worth playing on it so it's not very hard to resist.)

I have a Wii that never gets used. I bought Mario Galaxy, played 4 hours, sold it to a coworker. But oh, when Smash Bros. comes out for the Wii, it'll get its due.

KOTOR and Jade Empire are freaking amazing...

But I really want a 360 for Mass Effect and Bioshock, not to mention Halo 3.

I have a Wii... play RPGs and FPS. Or I used to before I got busy. Now I just play Zelda every now and then and I'm waiting for Smash Bros for the Wii...

Being busy with school, I can't play as often as I'd like AND go to the gym...I love my 360 though. Saints Row makes me laugh...Bioshock is the best single player game ever...If they added multiplayer over LIVE it would be awesome. Anybody wish they'd come out with the ORGINAL Perfect Dark (the N64 version) and Streets of Rage 3 for download? I'm doing Gamefly right now, and it's making more sense then going out and buying a $67 game and being disappointed with it (which I could have done with Assasins Creed). I love shooters though...WTF AM I DOING?! I HAVE A FINAL AND A PAPER DUE BOTH TOMORROW! See what happens when video games come up? LOL, I'm such a nerd.

I've been into games since I started playing them at my friend's house as a kid. Sega master system (WAY old school), NES, Nintendo64... I got into computer games when I was in college. I had a game I would play every month back then. First was Civilization, then RealTournament. Then I got an xbox.

Being a gamer hasn't stopped me from going to the gym and keeping myself in shape. Having said that, there are some times that I'll have gotten a new game and I will be playing it so intensely that I forget to eat a meal. But honestly that doesn't happen very often

I love Knights of the Old Republic (role playing game). I still go back to that game. I love Ninja Gaiden for 360 (3rd person ninja game). Awesome graphics and excellent gameplay. And of course the Halo series.

I love playing online Halo3, smacking someone with a hammer and watching their bodies fly. It just makes me happy. (Or headshotting someone with a sniper-rifle)

Lately I've been playing Guitar Hero 2 and 3. I can beat all the songs on expert -- well except for Devil goes down to Georgia (GH3), the Dragonforce song (GH3), and Jordan (GH2). I often wonder, for all the time I've put into playing that game, if I could have actually learned to play a real guitar.

I just finished my last final this morning so I can stay and proudly beat my chest and pronounce that I have over 7,000 achievement points on my 360! hahahaha.... oh shit, Ive got to go to Atlanta in the morning on business. got to go to bed. lol.

RPG's almost exclusively though. FF is awesome. And I really like the Wild Arms series. Sadly few people have heard of that having been overshadowed by FF. I'm hoping to get the newest game in that series for Christmas.

Since I own an Xbox of course I have Fable and Jade Empire. And while I own neither of the KOTOR's I have played them both. And since it was okay Sudeki does deserve a mention at least.

And for those who don't know, gay gamers are, while not a majority, certainly not unheard of. Bully on the PS2 had 6 different boys you could kiss.

Oh and I can't leave out my WoW time or the Ragnarok Online time either. I've since more or less given them up even though I still have my WoW account active. Its a damn expensive chat room but I love my guildies too much to cut it off.

My partner and I just bought a 360 and don't know what to do with the Xbox we had. That, and the other gaming platforms, make it almost difficult to get things done, but I force myself to get chores done.

I'm a PC gamer. I play Warrior Kings: Battles, Warcraft III, Starcraft:Broodwar, Galactic Civilizations II, Alpha Centauri, Sim City 3000, Lego Starwars, Dungeon Seige II, Unreal, Baldor's Gate, Myst, Diablo II, et al.

Hard to say which I've spent more time one over the years. Starcraft and Starcraft:Broodwar might be the winner.

It's a definite stress releif for me. Some of the games are visually beautiful. I'm a bit addicted to it, but really I don't like to watch TV much and if I did projects around the house as much as I play video games I'd be broke from buying supplies and fixtures. I don't drink but infrequently and I don't smoke so as far as additions, it's not too bad as long as I maintain fitness and don't loose too much sleep.

I've always loved board game and throughout highschool and college I played D&D. So if I had to give up my games or my TV, it wouldn't be a hard choice.

I used to be a much bigger gamer than I am now. I played WoW for about three years before I finally got fed up with it and quit. While I haven't had a console since the NES, that's mostly because I'm cheap and have had access to consoles through friends. But I'm ridiculously excited to finally be purchasing my friend's old DS (the big, bulk model) and can't wait to get back into gaming.

Actually, I still do own my original NES that is at least 10-15 years old; in fact, it's sitting right beside my TV.

WoW - I play on the Proudmoore server in the Spreading Taint guild... as well as a few others places depending where I find I have friends playing.

I camped out over night last year to get my Wii. Boy, am I glad I did that now... a year later and still clearing every shipment within hours. Crazy.

Slowly working my way through Puzzle Quest, but the Orange Box has been distracting. Portal is the best shooter game I've ever played.

Super Mario Galaxy on Wii has got me hooked at the moment.

MV, I haven't finished Halo 3's story yet either. I'm in some cave. I think I'm near the end, but I haven't looked to see for sure. Besides, it's the online multiplayer stuff that I like best. When players aren't being homophobic douches, that is.

You don't need to tell people you're gay to hear people spouting off and using homophobic slurs towards each other and even you as a general way to insult people. It gets really juvenile and annoying really quickly, and can make you want to not play.

I often had that experience when playing WoW, especially when initially joining new guilds. I would make it clear that I didn't care for the use of homophobic language, and if it continued badly enough I'd quit the guild for another pretty quickly.

That type of stuff has never bothered me, maybe cause I use those slurs as much as the next person . Not that I dont say anything about it when it's being used in an abuseful way.

i love video games i have a Snes, Mega Drive, N64, Dreamcast, PS2 and 360!

Alot of gay guys see it as boring and waste of social time when u could be out clubbing or meeting men for sex!

Games makes ur rection time alot quicker and makes your brain pick up things alot more... like my newphew was only either 6 or 7 and completed Ninja Gaiden on Hard when it first came out on X-Box! So its a good thing!

Oh and to that thread about Halo 3 when he called himself xxxgayboyxxx... and people were calling him names... so what?? It be same if someone named himself 'fatboy'!

PC games here. Half Life 1, 2, All of the new doom games, PainKiller, Diablo I and II, Dungeon Siege II , I could go on and on.

NOW i would LOVE to play certain games, like all the Castelvania Games (LOVED those from WAY back in the day), Hitman, and the new Assassin's Creed. I doubt i ever will though

I LOVE video games. I grew up with the Atari, NES, SNES, and eventually the Playstation, the Nintendo 64, the Playstation 2, the Gamecube ... and that's where my gaming stopped. Around the time the next generation consoles came out, I was busy with school and lost a bit of interest in gaming... Now that I've graduated, I wanna get a Wii and catch up on some gaming.

A few years ago I had The Sims and Unreal Tournament for my PC. Got a little addicted to both.

I love racing games like Need for Speed: Underground; RPGs like Final Fantasy (I've played FF6-FF10) and Legend of Zelda; first person shooters like Metroid Prime; and multi-player games like Smash Bros. Melee.

Video games? Hell yeah! I'm a huge Final Fantasy buff, favorites being IX, XI, and XII, but I've played nearly every single one of them. Anyway, I was raised on Playstation, so I've got a natural bias toward its games, some of the best being Kingdom Hearts, Star Ocean, Chrono Cross and so many more I can't think of 'em. Other consoles I like Halo, though I suck royally at it, Super Smash Bros, can't wait for the new one, and a lot of old school games. I haven't done a lot of new gen. games because I'm a poor college student! Hehe
And I don't like WoW. I thought it was super easy compared to FFXI.

I'm a huge gamer. I've been playing them literally as long as I can remember. Love PC games and consoles. I've always been a big RPG fan but love a shooter or action game when its done right. Favorites are EverQuest II, Oblivion, Final Fantasy series, Bioshock (gorgeous game on my rig), Dark Messiah, Crysis (another beauty). Still waiting for a title to blow me away on my PS3.

bwg77: I don't know nothing on the PS3 has been worth owning a PS3. Oh well, at least it's backwards compatible and you can play your PS2 games on it. Odin Sphere currently has my attention on the PS2, but I love going back to visit old games. I'm hoping to buy Guitar Hero 3 with the guitar so I can have two of them so when my family comes into town, they can have something to entertain them. Plus, I should pick up Karaoke Revolution some time soon.

N64 and NeoGeo as well... SEGA's been working on getting SEGACD and Saturn support on there too, but I doubt we'll see those until there's a realistic way to expand the Wii's memory.

Ooooooo, I didn't know they were working on offering SegaCD and Saturn games. That's awesome. In fact, I still have my Saturn and I still play it.

RockBand (only played this one at my friends, my str8 friend)

Also ... everynow and again there will be a volleyball game to come out.. and I get addicted to those as well but they usually aren't as high tech as football or basketball which pisses me off.. but maybe one day!!!!

Why would you buy a PS3 and not an Xbox 360?

It frustrates me that Sony has people still obeying brand loyalty when the PS3 is a total pile and the 360 has a bunch of great games and is cheaper and has better online services, etc, etc, etc.

Buy a 360 and boycott Sony; maybe they'll make hardware that doesn't suck ass.

i'm a huge fan of the final fantasy series, especially 4,6, 7 and 9. of course, i also love all the classics too: zelda, metroid & mario (the holy trinity of nintendo imo )

currently playing guild wars: nightfall and having a blast with that too. trying to get into the computer games a bit more. tried WOW, but couldn't get into it.

I don't think that I'll ever allow myself to play WOW... I'm pretty sure that I'd stop going to the gym, I would never see any of my real-life friends, and I would drop out of grad school.

Seriously, I've seen it happen, and it is not pretty.

Don't be afraid of playing WoW! You can still do your 1-2 hour gym routine, go to work or study, and have fun in the game. You just can't be a serious end game raider; if you know that going into the game, you'll save yourself a lot of trouble, not to mention losing some muscle.
To add to the great list of lots of games people like, anyone remember Hero's quest or Kings quest, ooh or Leisure Suit Larry haha, and other great games like those? It's a pity they dont make them like that anymore

I'm a huge Xbox and halo fan. It was Halo 3 that got me to buy an Xbox 360 and I must say it was a great game. I am looking forward to Mass Effect. I like all the Star Wars games, but my current favorite is Marvel Ultimate Alliance. Other games I've enjoyed playing are Fable, Advent Rising, Tron.

Never play WOW! My buddy never sees me and my friends anymore. He makes excuses on how he is not playing WOW. Look at what happens to straights:

Assasin's Creed is kind of consuming my life right now. Something very theraputic about coming home after a long day of work and gym and leaping from rooftop to rooftop assasinating unsuspecting guards with the quickblade (short blade attached to your wrist). Especially like the running tackle kill--you look like a lion pouncing.

Just keeping my aggression in the right place...

I looove Castlevania, Resident Evil, Silent Hill, and the Final Fantasies. Currently playing Final Fantasy VII, and it's pretty damn good.

Oh yeah! I figured I'd go ahead and tell everybody that my gamertag is "Divine Knight1" so feel free to send me a message or something and we could even play with each other! lol.

yeah kinda. I remember playing video games a whole lot. Prince of Persia Sands of time and RPGs in general are fun. Racing games, and the occasional shoot-em-up so I can take out my aggressions on things.

I'm concerned that my Rock Band drumming habit is going to make my right leg much bigger than my left.

Seriously, I'm a bit over halfway through on expert drums and it's like interval training for my right shin and quad.

I play tetris on my phone.

I'm a big gamer myself. I enjoy all types of games but have been as of late in a big Guitar Hero craze. I do play FF and other games in that field but I'm trying to save up some money so that I can get myself a nice brand new 360 to play Ninja Gaiden 2 and Devil May Cry 4. Too many systems that I own and not enough time. LOL!!!

I grew up with video games, and continue to play them when I get a chance. World of Warcraft FTW

Yea, I've been a big gamer lol. Was addicted to playing FFXI online (Final Fantasy for those that prolly dont know lol). Have ps2 Gamecube and old xbox. I can thankfully say that I am not as addicted to games as I was, that was part of the weight problem for me when I would spend many hours sitting on my ass just plaing games. Now I play them only once in a while, mostly at night when I get home from work (12 am) and theres nothing to do. Its a good stress relief for me.

I love video games, so much so that when I was a kid I wanted to grow up and become a video game programmer.

I have PS@ and Gamecube, and I also play online. I don't play as much as I like since I've been back in school though.

My all time favourites is the Final Fantasy series, especially FFIX. Was playing Flyff online, but haven't had much of a chance in the past while.

I've always been attracted to games that make you think, solve mysteries and riddles, puzzles, etc. I think playing those games as a kid helped make my mind sharper and improves hand-eye coordination.

Lol seems we actually have a little gamers club for the Final Fantasy franchise in here...

i love gaming...used to be on the quake 3 ladder and played tournaments and such (non professional). Love rpgs and shooters but am currently without a console...going to buy one for the new apartment around february, then I will get back into playing again. Played the shit out of final fantasy and unreal tournament when I had my games though.

'ey, here's another FF-fan (which, by the way, can call upon other associations of the more carnal kind). My favorite is FFVI, followed by FFVII and FF: Crystal Chronicles. I also have FFX and FFXII, but have yet to play through them.

I prefer the characters of FFVI and FF:CC though; the androgynous pretty boy main characters of the last couple of games don't work for me (why, oh why wasn't Penelo the main character of FFXII? Her sass alone made her more interesting than soulless, his-eyes-are-hollow, blank-faced Vaan).

unfortunately. But I love the FF games, VII being my
favourite. Cloud used to my favourite, but the torch

I also loved the Golden Sun games. They're really good,

I've grown a stronger liking to many DS games now, due
to the touch screen function which I really love. One
of those games is Phoenix Wright, an incredibly good game

hell yes. I love video games. I'm into the fighting games and the rpg types like Gulity Gear, Tekken, Soul Caliber (can't wait for part 4 ofr PS3), Final Fantasy, Oblivion, Halo, Marvel vs Capcom, WOW, and the list goes on.

I play loads of different types of games. Favourite games are Final Fantasy VII, Shenmue and Gran Turismo. At the moment I have a PS3 and 360 - which blows the PS3 out the water.

I also went through a spell of playing WoW for a massive period of time. Definitely addictive

I consider myself to be a big gamer, and tend to gravitate toward RPGs mostly (+ mmorpgs). Got sucked into WoW just recently over winter break while I was home from college. i've been playing way too much Halo3 lately.

Soul Caliber 2 is the best game of all time. SC3, on the other hand, sucks so much it hurts. I die a little inside when I think of that game.

I've got PS2...and I've been playing Guitar HeroIII...I know...DORK! (but I really rock!)

and I also spend A LOT of time on the computer at City of Heros and City of Villains.
