...who says BALD is BAD?...

...of course, my family genetics tell me I'll have hair until I die...although my forehead keeps buying up real estate every year...

...I just went on a date with a Latino: shaved head and goatee...

Surely being Gay is the best thing for bald guys. There are lots of shaved/cropped guys on the Uk Gay scene and it's considered very sexy here in Europe.

Straight bald men however just look thuggish.

And there is nothing worse than men losing their hair and trying to disguise it. They should embrace their hair loss and get it cropped.

Take a closer look at this site and at the outside world. {some with a full head of hair are shaving..it's the style} There are some HOT GUYS who have croped hair style or "BALD". Grow a beard or goatee if you miss the top Crop.

Accept it..it's going to happen {as with I}
just be proud...those who put too much emphasis on hair are lacking within.

going bald and not doing anything about it can look unattractive. I have always had thinning hair in the front even when I was younger. But you couldnt tell until I grew my hair out. About a year ago I started noticing it more...so I just shaved it completely....Everyone loves it. Nice bald smooth head

I think shaved/buzzed heads are hot! There are even guys who aren't bald who I think look way better without a head of hair (e.g., Justin Timberlake and Wentworth Miller.) So, for me, baldness isn't unattractive unless one is trying to grow out what's left. I would love to send Donald Trump to fitness boot camp for a couple months and shave his head, just to see if there's hotness under that fugly comb-over.

sick and ugly, from a guy without a pic....

seems some of us place too much emphasis on fluff: I still judge people by what counts, character. Not genetics. Although to your point I think I am judging you on a bad gene pool. Well I am only human!

Your first remark:
I keep a steady supply of BICs in the bathroom.

I'm never disguised my aging.

I've aged well, do to my lifestyle.

Aging is a natural thing. How we deal with it makes all the difference.

Your second remark:
It takes YEARS to get fat, and ugly. YEARS of neglect. That's just laziness in my book, and there's no excuse for it. If I see someone like that, it tells me volumes about them. Many folks treat their pets better than themselves. That's just plain silly.

Gay folk tend to be "queeny" about appearance, especially where I reside. If they're like that, I usual don't have much to do with them.

No, it is not the end of the world. When I realized how much I had lost I decided to "go with dignity" and cut it off or super short.
I can tell you there are lots of guys who don't mind, and lots more guys who like/prefer bald/shaved heads. And, yes, some who only want guys with hair. But not as many as you might think. Actually I would say I get hit on/complimented more than I used to!
It is how you handle it that makes a big difference.

I'm always perlplexed by gay men who are conflused as to "Why do gay men place such emphasis on looks and belittle those who aren’t up to par?"

This has nothing to do with being gay and everything to do with being male.
All men, straight and gay put a lot of emphasis on looks. The fact of the matter is that men are much more visual than women. If you were to hang out with a bunch of straight men at a bar, guess what they'd be talking about. They'd be scanning the room judging all the pretty women, the ugly women, woman with big breast, small breasts, etc. Women in turn, do their best to put make up on, fix their hair, and dress sexy to appeal to a man's visual
bias.

And as for bald, bald is hot, on gay and straight men.

... being "attractive" is more a sense of yourself
If you carry yourself well and take care of yourself people will become attracted to you

Now the other statement you made...that gay men are hung up on looks is to a large extent very true
I'm not sure of the reason..mebbe its because we're men and are always out for the visual..I don't know
what's you other guy's take on it??

Hell no! In my opinion a hot man is a man who's confident and sure of himself...with or without hair on his head. I've found that most guys who have the balls to adjust to loosing their hair are much better adjusted and fun to be with. And no prissy worrying about their "do"

At a young age, i knew genetics was going to have me with thinning hair and eventually lead to me being bald or some form of male pattern baldness, so in my late 20's i decided to be proactive and shaved my head and haven't regretted it since. Being bald is not a sign of sickness or weakness. In fact being bald can show signs of strength and confidence.

Would i like to have a full head of hair...yea sometimes i think i would but i cant think having a shaved head is just so much easier to deal with then having hat hair or bed hair...or just not knowing what to do with my hair like so many other guys seem to deal with.

Also just a comment to be made...Hair Club for Men ...dont waste your money..you can see those weaved in toupees from miles away along with combovers.

most people think i shave my head because i'm balding. truth is my hairline hasn't changed since i was like 21. but i've been shaving it since i was 19 or so. it just felt right. i looked right with a shaved head. now, maybe because i've been around shaggy haired surfers for too long, i've decided to grow my hair out. a few exes have seen me and were visibly disappointed. my friends are all telling me it looks way better than they expected and being really encouraging. i haven't noticed any change in reaction from gay strangers, which is pretty surprising consider my hair is at that mid-length awkward stage.

meh, blad/short hair i'm all good with it.

Problem for me is i have a long head, i.e its big at the back.I have wet shaved my head and i look ridiculous, not to mention older and slightly thuggish.

But on the other hand i have ridiculosly thick hair, so much so that i look like a mushroom when it gets any lenght on it on it

so i stand on a happy medium, shaved to a 3 or 2 depending on the weather.

As for 'gay' vanity...please...its got nothing to do with being gay. Its about attracting a mate, in every sense.

apart for the human examples, the most obvious examples is in birds. Its the male bird that presents the colours and elaborate songs for selection by the females.

The elaborate plumage of the Peacock-its a male, trying to attract a Peahen, a female.

Gay vanity is another misconstruded perception from society that only gay men make a song and dance out of looking good.

And i can't stand men with long shoulder length hair. ho hum, personal preference.

I don't have any preference, but I rarely see a bald guy I don't think is most hot.

It's helpful to see how there are all kinds of gorgeous. And the most extraordinary kind is one of the soul.

I know this sounds cheesy, but I honestly am more attracted to a guy's heart and mind than his body. A body can get my attention, but so can a nice car, cake, or something shiny on the sidewalk. But the heart and mind can melt me.

I suspect that to have types of any sort, or preconceived notions of beauty, is very limiting to your my happiness. While it takes time to mature past certain shallow ideas (at least it was for me) once you are capable of seeing multiple kinds of beauty, the world turns into this exceptional place.

A friend last night had a launch party for his new swimwear line: http://www.gabrielcroissier.com/
It was a fashion show at Pacha. The male models were simply stunning. And one had a tattoo similar in style to mine on my leg. At first I thought, he is making that look so much better than I do. Then I thought, why do I have to be so down on myself? Sure it's nice to look at someone so beautiful, but I make it ugly when I think I am not, or anyone is not as beautiful as him. I am not him, but we are all beautiful in different ways. An ex-bf of mine is fond of saying, we are all of us gods. I think he has it right.

What a refreshing change from CraigsList type ads: "...please have a full head of hair..."

Well, I guess I do have a full head of hair, but what's full for me would be pretty pathetic for most. But, I do agree...if you are groomed properly, it's sexy no matter what the state of the hair on your head.

Wow! type error when you know how I will feel! To the second part of your question is that I feel their might be 2 reasons behind the importance of looks phenomeona; I think many gay men are very artsy and are into the beauty of everything, I also think that many gay men have been put down this gives many an inferiority complex subconsciouly, so they want to try to show other people that they are not worthless by one of the few ways they have control over. I don't, however, feel that this is 100% true for all gay men. I see some gay men who will where anything no matter how rediculous it makes them look. I also see some gay men who eat or drink themselves into way 500 lbs or more fully knowing what they are doing. I like people who are not necessarilly handsome but fit, why because it shows me they care about themselves and therefore have the ability to care for others. These are just observation from my perspective through living my life.

I sTarted losing my hair in my early thirties. If I had a choice, would I like to have hair? Yes, of course! However, I make the most of it by cutting it really close. I hate the Bozo look and find it looks better uniformly short. I wear a goatee and have a nicely hairy chest, so I make up for it elsewhere. I am told the look works for me. More importantly, I am in excellent health, exercise and eat right, and if losing my hair is the worst thing that happens to me, I will consider myself extremely fortunate!

It's not the end of the world in the gay community, it's just the end of your hair. Nobody but a real freak is going to want to have sex with your hair. Maybe a Cher fetishist. But that's it. God made a few good heads and covered the rest with hair. Bald heads tan better too. Also, bald men and those that shave their heads have scientifically proven larger penises.

I used to think my hair was the end all be all and could not have imagined living without it. Then after years of shaving it for swimming, it finally decided to not grow back.

That was age 17. Thirteen years later, I have not missed it one bit. I do have to say I wish people with heavy heads of hair would embrace it and work their look out. there will be plenty of time to embrace your inner baldy. But let the ones who have the look now get the attention ; )

One sad part is that I think bald men are sexy, but I could not imagine having a BF who is also bald.

Because my hair became thin on top, I had to get haircuts constantly or it would look bad. The thin hair on top laid flat and the thick hair on the side and back stood out. It was a pain, so I shaved it off. The reaction from people was amazing and very positive. Instant attention. I'm not too concerned if the occasional no-photo-uploaded person thinks it makes me look "sick and ugly."

In 1991 I did something radical and out of character. I totally shaved my thick head of black hair, grew a goatee and mustache and took the slings and arrows from people at work ("You look like an escapee from a Turkish prison" was one comment).

Not to brag, but guys who never gave me a second glance in the bars all of sudden started cruising me. It was the strangest thing, I never thought that would happen.

So no things are not over if you go bald. There are some very sexy guys on RJ that have very little hair and (if I was single) I would have no trouble pursuing.

Having had dreadlocks, mohawks, skater cuts and afros, I had always wanted to shave it off but was worried my head was oddly shaped.

One day I had been wearing a winter hat all day and my hair was uncomfortable...so I just asked my roommate to "shave it off....I'm OVER it!" He said "just go get a haircut," and I said "no."

After we did it, he looks at me and says (we'd known each other for 10 years) "Wow. That's like the haircut you should have always had."

I have hair now, but will go to shaving it again one day....and yes, bald men are sexy.

I shaved my head for the first time in 1984. Over the years it has been fashionable and over the years it has not. The same with my beard. I got a goatee in 1985 and a full beard around 1989. These are just part of a process of self definition that takes a long time.

Come dawn to my body id not allergic, to testosterone. No buzz is cool. Like me, it make some guys look tougher. mean, strong looking. Other guys are not much chop, with , or without hair.

Gay people place such emphasis on beauty and belittle those that are not because that is what gay people learned from straight society.......there are more straight people caught up in the beauty thing than gay men.

I HATE being bald! There is no social redeeming quality to being bald.

If I didnt think a toupee would look worse than being bald, I would get one.

Plus, a toupee is prolly hot...it's not like cap. You cant take your hair off until you cool down and put it back on ... people would get suspicious.

Whaddaya think about toupees? What are the requirements and cost of a good one?

It's ok to be bald whether guys like it or not. Some will, and some won't.

Sometimes I shave my head and sometimes I just buzz it. Doesn't seem to make much difference to the boys.

I'm just happy to be as good as I am.

My baldness started at 25 ...the top was gone by 30. ...and now, if it goes back much further, the hair is gonna start dropping off my ass! ...

Both of my brothers have full heads of hair. My father had a full head of hair. My maternal grandfather had thinning hair...and they say it comes from the mother's side of the family...so I got the whole damn complement of bald genes!

And I had such beautiful, shiny hair ...

After my last post, the system returned me to the top of the thread and your post was there.

"...and belittle those who aren’t up to par?"

Isn't saying "arent up to par" about bald guys belittling them? You are validating the very denigration you are asking about!

So early to get bald at the age 25 or 26... On my mom side, all my uncles are balds. I guess I have my mom's gene lol

Maybe I have to shave all my hair or buy some treatments that help regrow hair...

Those treatments only work in areas that are going thin. They cause hair folicles to split and fill in the area, I think.

I tried rogaine...nada

I tried prostate cancer and turning off my testosterone....nada HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Oh I crack me up!

caslon saidF*ck it!

Toupees are sooo yesterday, they look fake..my uncle has one, nowadays guys and most gals use hair club for men and have "hair systems" wich is atatched to your scalp with a special glue, they run around $1000-1500ish depending on the length that you desire..

There's a lot of great-looking men -- some of whom already posted their comments here -- who are bald AND sexy! I once dated this one handsome guy with beautiful blue-green eyes, and looked like Kelly Slater (the professional surfer); VERY handsome, sexy, and bald!

So if a guy is losing his hair, yeah, that can be unfortunate, but that doesn't mean they're any less sexy or unwanted.

Famous Sexy Bald Studs:

Jason Statham
Kelly Slater
Patrick Stewart
Vin Diesel
Prince William (he's starting to lose it)
Steve Austin
Andre Agassi
Homer Simpson (well ...?)

... and my awesome friend Mark who turns 40 this year, looks spectacular, and is bald!

Going Bald?

I thought turning 30 was the end of the world in the gay community.

Definitely NOT. Just don't overcompensate by growing longer hair on the sides and then comping it over your pate. Buzzcut baby!

On some guys a bald head actually is kind of cute, as well as a clean shaven head. On others guys it's not so much, and bald spots aren't all that cute to me... but it's not the end of the world for those guys. I still give them time of day and have dated bald and balding guys before. It doesn't affect their personalities much or ability to love and understand another person. Hell, as long as he can forget for a few minutes that he's a guy with a bald spot and focus on the conversation, flirting or on his body as he dances, than he's all right by me =)

Don't be sad. I started going bald around 16 or 17. I went for the widows peak for a couple of years and then just started clipping it without a guard at 19. Been that way ever since and love it. Sometimes I wish i had hair out of boredom, but the maintenance is a pain in the ass. Plus I never had to fall into dumb hair trends like that damn cupie doll spike in the middle.

I used to have full shiny blond hair, but traded vanity for practicality and reality.

No, unless the bald guy continues to run after guys who aren't attacted to him. Also, Sedative's advice (not long on sides, combed over) is sound in my view.

Bald guys are hot, hot, hot (in my book).

Why do gay men place such emphasis on looks and belittle those who aren’t up to par?

A deeper question, to be sure. Where do I begin . . ?

Yeah but his money is a total turn-on!

Bald guys are HOT HOT HOT!!! I don't think it's the end of the world, maybe your 'value' goes down in the eyes of some, but that's fine. Who wants to associate with someone so shallow anyways?

It doesn't matter to me if a guy loses his hair or not - just so long as he's got other virtues going for him - such as integrity, brains, brawn, responsibility, loyalty. So far, I've still got all of my blond hair - but if it starts going - I'll be OK with that - just think of the $$ I'll save on haircuts /styling /keeping the grey out!!

Bald can definitely be sexy. A guy with a cleanly-buzzed head can roll right out of bed looking just as good as he did when you put him there the night before...and that's hot.

Since I am heading in the direction of baldness (thanks to the genes), I am learning to embrace it... though I must admit, it is happening slowly. Close haircuts help some.

In my youth, I had a glorious mane of thick black hair that I was rather well-known for. During my USMC decade, I was shaved bald for the entire time and never really thought about it much. Imagine my horror after I got out and started to grow back that glorious mane, only to find that it was no longer there. Most guys get time to get used to the idea of balding. It dawned on me quite suddenly and I'm still not over it completely...

I never saw it as a gay comunity thing but it always worried me since its in my genetics.

I am balding from the back of my head and my bro has a full set of hair ( I envy him )

I have to say that this forum makes me feel good about balding.

hey fellas..... there's a product called 'Nioxin' if you think your hair is starting to thin. they make all kinds of treatments, including a folicle booster that will repair up to 7 years damage / loss. costs a bloody fortune, but hey, my hair is worth every cent!

Going bald… is it the end of the world in the gay community??

I get laid A LOT more often w/ a shaved head than I did w/ hair. Also ... I'm a lot more confident in myself. So, I carry myself different than I did in the past.

Why do gay men place such emphasis on looks and belittle those who aren’t up to par?

Well, if you were cute, you wouldn't be asking this question, would you?

Okay ... I'm joking. Seriously, I'm joking. I'd pounce on you if I saw you out!

Well, we all want to put our best foot forward for people to see and not show the flaws right away. The packaging is ALWAYS and will always draw a guy's attention.

Hello! We think with two heads.
