Hi Everyone,

I signed up last night for my first Ultra-marathon...

Anyone else run one yet?

I'd be curious to hear your thoughts on training....

Thanks and enjoy your weekend!

Well, this one is gonna be interesting....it's a 50k starting @ MIDNIGHT....in Ft. Worth....so, I suppose I'll need to watch out for all the drunk cowboys....

I've never run a night race before, and even though its only about five miles further then a marathon, five miles further is a looooong way at that point.

What I'm hoping to do is use this race as a stepping stone toward a 50 and 100 mile race.....I figure my biological clock is ticking rather quickly these days....so I've got some goals I'd like to reach beforehand....

Ultra-marathons are becoming more common, so I'm hoping to find some guys who've already ran to share training tips....

Again, thanks!

Definitely use the walk/run method used by Bobby Mcgee www.bobbymcgee.com it will save your legs and glycogen. As an endurance athlete, get your nutrition right. you can do all the training in the world, if you are not eating right, it won't matter. hard to tell from your picture, but form could be more efficient. check our chi running.com, it's the best and check out the newtonrunning.com, super nice shoes, cutting edge!
good luck! you'll have a blast, the ultra runners are super nice peeps!
