I used to groom dogs with four old ladies many years ago, the best job I've ever had. Golden Girls all day long!
The youngest of the four called me today needing a favor. I could sense the desperation in her voice and then the tears started from this normally stoic woman.
She told me she has uterine cancer, and wanted to know if i had any time to groom dogs for her, while she goes through surgery and treatment. She has a business, home and her dogs to support. I assured her I would commit my Saturdays to grooming dogs so she could at least just make her rent payment for the business. My life is already jam packed but will just somehow make it work, I always do.
I'm also single and have emergency measures in place for illness but this situation makes me wonder how many of us are prepared financially for major illness?
If I was there I'd be in this up to my elbows. What you're going to do is really quite wonderful. Thanks thanks and thanks for making her burden a little lighter. Are there any of her friends that you know that you could network with, that would be as willing as you?
