Hey guys
I teach a full body group fitness class and it's time to change things up--new routine and new music. I decided this time around that I would widen my horizons and explore music from around the world. I know that there was a post about workout music and I took some artists from there, but I need a few more. What I am looking for is music that is fun, got a beat, and doesn't get annoying like so many dance mixes do. Stuff that will motivate a great workout. I am grateful for any suggestions.

Try the Putumayo collection. http://www.putumayo.com/
They have incredible sampler cds of music from around the world. Lots of modern fusion as well. Any of the grooves ones (arabic groove, asian groove, etc) would be good to start. The Lounge series would probably be to slow.

Here is an artist that I found that way: Tarkan total hot, and rumours hes gay, his english/north america release stuff is pretty generic but his turkish stuff is fantastic

this one is probably his biggest hit

this one probably isnt fast enough, but hes so hot

My favorite way to find new music is to listen to CKUA radio http://ckua.com/ especially World Spinning on sunday afternoon.

I have more, but most of its on my other machine.

Voodoo Ray by A Guy Called Gerald...an oldie but still sounds like a fresh goodie; kind of has a world beat vibe maybe?:

Thanks everyone for your help. Tiran, you are right he is smoking hot and I was able to find a remix version of that first song on itunes. I really appreciate this.

What sort of genre are you looking for? Sort of mellow easy listening?

There's this one chick from one of the islands off the coast of Africa. They speak Portuguese in this region. The singer's name is Cesaria Evora. I have one of her songs in my place list on my profile if you care to sample it. People who like Spanish and Latin music really like her. She has a great voice.

Hey Papi! (her big hit)

I have used a couple in cycling too. I am head over heels for this chick right now!

I second the Putumayo series; around the world in 80 plays; always fresh. Arab Groove is a favourite.

Beirut nights radio always has a few tracks that you can usually get on Itunes, remixes and the likes. You can get the station either online or off of Itunes.

Amadou & Mariam (spelling) fast food senegal is a great song as well and Manu Chau has a lot of things that can be used in workouts.
