Cute or Hot?

Just a thought, if you see a guy out; and you percieve him as being cute (but not hot)... Are you attracted to him or do you dismiss him based on boyish looks etc and stereotype them as being an immature twink? Or do you find that someone that is defined as hot is more of the person you would go for?

Doesn't matter. Cute can be hot. Hot can be cute.

But if blessed with a great personality, both can be SIZZLIN'!

I tend to save the word "cute" for much younger guys. These guys are generally not my type because I am not attracted to young men.

I don't think I'd call a man in his 30's and especially in his 40's or older as cute.

Well, often young boys are called cute. With that sweet, rather innocent look on their faces.... I get called "cute" all the time
Hot is someone who really looks like... sex The kinda guy you wanna grab right there on the street and tear him apart.
At least that's how I see things

I think height also makes a difference. Us short guys are usually relegated to cute or adorable over being hot. Granted this is usually done to us by the taller homo sasquatches.

I don't mind someone saying something I did was cute, but I don't like being called cute. Cute is what you call a kitten, puppy or a twink.

Haha! Hear hear!

Anyway, at this point in my life, I'd go for the "cute" guys over "stereotypically hot" ones. Of course, I'm not limiting myself, I'm just a little more drawn to cute right now.

So long as they look like a man.

Great that there is a good response to this thread! I've found (i'm an aussie guy here) that the association of being cute, comes in closely with the twink reference to most young guys out there; personally I don't like the term twink, its almost like making a comparence to a paris hilton type personality.

I agree with a few of you on here bout the term "handsome" or something that falls in between cute and hot.

I am attracted to guys that I'd call cute or hot. A lot of the time the hot ones have a better body and at least some seniority on me. I'm assuming that's how most people think about it as well.

But even knowing that, whenever I get called cute I quite feel like I am viewed as an adult in their eyes. Same thing when someone calls you "boy".

"Cute" to me are guys I think are very attractive in a boyish way; nice smile, smooth, clean shaven and thin to average build (no matter what age) and NICE personality. "hot" is cute with some overt sexuality.

It seems on this site our definitions are really varied,
We all have different standards for what we find "Cute" or "Hot"

Cute is a great adjective for babies, young children, and baby doll dresses.

Hot is all about sex, attitude, and skin (or the desire to see more of the hot one's).

Sometimes my hairstyles get the cute label but I almost never do.

Must not be too many black folks in Vancouver ;)

"Sick" is Black slang for "awesome" or "over the top perfect."

I thought "sick" took the place of "sweet" in the late 1970's/early 1980's, coming from white Californians but actually used as meaning "great" or "cool" in the UK (maybe Red can shed some light on that one).

"Slick" (meaning shady, hip, manipulative, or cool) is a word from African Americans I think.

hey, as long as you enjoy looking at someone, don't worry about what to call it! Just separate the "attractive" from the "Cheney-esque" and go after the ones in the former category.

When I'm told I'm "cute", it's that message of "you're cool and all, but I would never want to do anything sexual with you"

Where-as if I get told i'm "hot", usually from "cute" or "twink" boys, they want to have sex with me...

anyone somewhat agree with me?

This is something I just brought up to a friend recently, and he followed it by saying "but you are cute!" The argument led to him telling me that:
cute is usually for younger guys that you wish you could take home and get with, but also want to have again and again
hot is the guy that has the look to take home tonight (usually right now!), but you probably only want for one night

Sick, sic, this is a common current US cultural term having a similar meaning as such past cultural phrases like awesome and sweet, In general its most often used to describe things; music, skate moves and things like that. Example; Their new album is just sick. That's the sickest move I've seen in a long time. I haven't yet heard this used to describe a person in the same way as hot or cute, but maybe I'm missing a version.

I've heard it's the opposite. Well at least for me it's the opposite. A monkey is cute, but you don't take it to bed. I'll take hot any day.

I've been trying to explain something similar to my hag, certain adjectives are used only in conjunction with certain synonyms for "guy".

a man can be hot, handsome or beautiful
a boy can be pretty or cute
Do not use boy adjectives with "man" and vice versa.
both can be attractive, sexy, gorgeous etc.
"guy" is safe. You can use any adjectives you like with "guy".

It's all to do with how the words fit together.

I swear, this is Gayglish 101!

Yeah, I'd say that young people tend to be 'cute' and older people tend to be 'hot'.

But I'm more likely to approach someone that I consider cute than someone that I consider hot, probably because I feel less threatened by them or I might consider them more in my league or something like that.
