Actually, an ex of mine told me he used to get errections when he was massaged by either male or female massage therapists... And this guy has NEVER had any sexual desires or experiences with any female in his life...
A professional massage therapist, male or female (or anything in between), gay or straight, sees this ALL the time and is trained to handel this kind of situation professionally. As far as massages with "happy ending", that is prostitution with a body rub... It can cost a professional massage therapist his/her license... This was discussed in a LONG thread here on RJ:

So, you really have nothing to worry about if you get an errection during a massage if you are being treated by a professional and licensed massage therapist.
And I understand your preference with having a strong male therapist treating you. Although you are supposed to use your body weight at times to apply pressure to the patient/client, a very small framed therapist, male or female, just does not have the strength or mass to do this as effectively as a big person (this is not saying that they do not have great techniques and skills.)
You probably should ask Rksportswear... He is a LMT.

I have a family member who is a licensed MT and they really are trained to professionally disregard it as natural body response to contact.
If you're comfortable enough bringing it up you could simply say, "I'll probably become aroused from the massage but it isn't sexual." That way he can expect it. I'm certain his immediate response will be "Don't worry sir, it happens all the time, just relax and get comfortable." etc.etc.
So no worries!

I am a licensed CMT and have been in the biz for 15 years. If you find a good CMT who is properly credential and address your concerns before the session he will tell you not to worry about it and to just relax, remember he is a man too and knows the ins and outs of an erection (no pun intended) Massage should feel good and it should be a good experience, so don't let the fear of a normal body reaction prevent you from enjoying it. Cheers!

Interesting, but for me to get a hard-on during a massage, there has to be intent on the part of both parties...I mean I have to be in the mood, and the masseur has to at least accept that I might have that pleasurable response..(and might be getting off encouraging it).

Ditto fastprof.
But I think you shouldn't worry about it. The PT probably isn't concerned, but you might need to say something just to get your head comfortable with the situation.

word of advice = See a professional therapist it you need your "bumps" worked out. There are extremly good qualified female and male therapist and there are some extremly bad "I don't know what I am doing" therapist. Call the massage association in your state and get a referal to a good trained therapist. I have had my share of massages and I have experienced both. Don't worry about an erection cause any qualified therapist is trained to ignore it. So just let go during your massage and enjoy!

i pefer a man over a woman for a massage. i dunno but i just feel like i am in a relaxed setting. woman are cool and have always been happy with their work. i guess it is just preference. i am actually getting a massage tomorrow from a guy named alan. im pretty excited :) then for a good rest in a sauna.
don't worry psych if you are getting a really good massage you shouldn't care if your team is excited or not ;)

Don't worry about it. After a long race I sometimes get a massage, maybe 1 to 3 times per year, and probably 80% of the time I'm rock hard after a few minutes. Was initially embarrassing, especially when they have you turn over from your stomach to lie on your back, but it's really never been an issue. Has nothing to do with the MT... just a reflection of how relaxed I am. I've read that MT's sometimes view an erection as a sign that the client is getting an excellent treatment and is relaxed.
Bottom line, don't let the fear of an erection prevent you from getting a good massage. Honestly, if you spend the entire massage worrying about it, that sort of defeats the point of relaxing during a massage. As long as you to go a reputable, professional MT, there won't be any funny business. I prefer male MT's because in my experience their massages have been better. Plus, if I do get hard, I am more comfortable getting an erection in front of them than in front of women. Sometimes I am concerned that a female MT may construe it as sexual harassment, while a male MT is more likely to know how normal a response to touch and relaxation it is. Hope this is helpful....

The more I've had professional massages, the less likely I've been to get an erection. And I always go to a man, because I prefer the masculine touch. I've had a couple hard-ons during professional massages, but the guy has always been completely unrattled by it - he'll just slow down, ease up... it'll subside, and on you go. Just relax and enjoy.

I second that, when you have enough massage that it's just relaxing. I don't get hard anymore. and I have join group for CM and they all said it's common and they are use to see that.

First off, you say you've had women give you really awesome massages with no erection, why haven't you just continued to go to them. If you find a massage therapist that you are completely comfortable with and does a great job, then I say stick with them, unless you move or they go to work somewhere else.
As for the erection by a male rmt, I've had erections during a massage, when he was doing my back and butt I got hard, but then he had me turn over and I went back down. If your worried and not an overly sexual person, then just jack off before you go. And get it over with. If you are overly sexual, just shrug it off. I once read that when a man is aroused the only part of him really relaxed is the penis. It's when we are tense that our dick is soft. Something about relaxing releasing the sphincter that controls blood flow to and from the penis causing it to erect.

I have had many massages by men and women. It is completely natural to get an erection during a massage and of course all therapists know this. My recommendation ia to try out as many therapists as you can (from others recommendations - male or female). I have 2 great therapists currently 1 male and 1 female. I will trade off based on what I feeling like at any given time. Regardless massage is good for anyone and I highly recommend everyone get one as they have the time/money.

I am a little late on viewing this topic but here is my opinion anyway. I always opt for a male therapist, mostly because I am a male therapist and know that there are a lot of people out there that aren't comfortable with that. I find that the best way to relieve tension in my particularly solid clients is to use different active stretching techniques often refered to as hold relax. When your focus is on being stretched out there is a less likely chance of becoming aroused. If you are looking to relax daily mental stress then get a spa treatment but if you want longer lasting effects and more body awareness then find a therapist that is trained in more then "deep tissue".

as a massage therapist I focus on the patient's need to get relaxed and get ready for his/her next work out. I've seen a lot of people getting aroused during my career but it's because of the touching. Don't feel embarrassed if you get a hard on, it means that you are alive.
