I am a rather advanced athlete and work with various trainers on different occasions, but would love a bud who is s dedicated as I am to weight train with.

Looking to gain ten lbs and its always good to have someone there to help push that last rep

I also do yoga at least once a week, pilates, boxing, spin (about 3-4 times a week) dance classes, you name it.....

Anyone else on realjock actually a REAL athlete....

Hit me up

Ha - Its a fact that 67% of men think they are in shape - when 13% actually are. And one must play a sport to be a jock. Going to the gym does not count.

Im up for a challenge if you are...

lol yeah but waxing ur eyebrows, quaffing your hair, and wearing rouge isn't particularly jockish, in my opinion... neither are skimpy lil manthongs.....

nothing against those things of course, just sayin, they don't fit my schema of 'jock.' in my mental image, a jock looks decidedly *not* like an anorexic asian girl.

maybe its more of a mental state than a criterium-based position, for the sake of this website at least :p

Wow I love getting attacked on this post.

Just to clarify if this was addressed at me, I dont wax or tweeze my eyebrows, I shave my head, and I dont wear rouge.

The bathing suit (hardly a thong) is from a popular swimwear and underwear company which I model for....

but thanks anyways

So does everyone else on the site, or at least the 87% that aren't really in shape, or maybe just the 54% that think they are in shape, but aren't.

Sorry, but I have to say just because you take care of your appearance and groom does not mean you are not jockish. In fact I see more pretty jock boys than rough and rugged unkept ones. And I mean its a gay jock site. So I will be the first to admit I tweeze and wax my eyebrows (its horrible not to), I man scape every two weeks, If I had hair it would be done up, I get manicures and pedicure, I tan, I ex foliate.

Just cause we consider ourselves athletic jock is does not mean we can't take care of ourselves in other ways. Its all about keeping care of your body and your appearance.

OHHHHH!! I SOOOOO can't resist this:

I guess jock requires poor math skills as 67% and 13% = 80% and there's still 20% to account for.

Major, I don't have anything against you or your 'tude, but I just had to throw that joke in there. Are bodybuilders not jocks? They go to the gym and flex on stage. Jock is not a rigid term as you have it.

I guess the other 20% are not in shape and don't think they are in shape...

Major, I don't think czar was attacking you, just your arrogant assertion of your own definition of "jock".

Umm, the 13% who actually are fit would be part of the 67% that think they are.
leaving just 33% who think they are lard asses, while in reality 87% are really lard asses.

so

13% think they're fit, and are
54% think they're fit, but are really lard asses
(13 + 54 =67)
33% think they are lard asses, and really are
----
100%

or

Sorry, geek who's into fitness here. Hooray google charts

But you are assuming that all of the 13% of men that are in shape believe they are in shape - surely some of them have body dysmorphic disorder or have unrealistic definitions of "in shape".

LOL, this thread was hijacked in the very first reply anyway... I thought the pie chart fit in nicely.

Thanks for clarifying the percentage issues NYCguy74 so I didn't have to explain that one again.

And to clarify - I was simply looking for someone in Manhattan who is on my fitness level who is willing to train together. I work in fitness, fitness education, and wellness as a business. Stating I wish to meet someone for training purposes on my level is not giving attitude, but rather just a fact.

And the work "jock" is actually slang, but according to wikipedia ----

A jock, by most accepted standards of the stereotype (if one is American), is an individual - usually a tall, physically fit, male in his late teens or early twenties - who is well-known for his athletic abilities. Jocks are more widely recognized in certain team sports, such as basketball, football, American football, Australian Football and other physically demanding sports.

So I dont think Im wrong in saying that most of the men who consider themselves JOCKS do not actually fit into this definition.

Now if one wishes to call themselves an athlete, so be it.....

But generally speaking a jock is recognized as one on a sports team....

And this is why I said I was an advanced athlete looking for someone to train with. I was simply being as specific as possible.

Lastly - my father and I train often together. He was a nationally competitive bodybuilder and a former Mr Olympia. He would never call himself a "jock"

Although I must say - I do thoroughly enjoy all the insults and attention. Thanks for those....

LOL The guy just wanted a NYC area workout partner and he got Pie Charts!!!

PIE CHARTS!

Hilarious.

I would have considered the offer of needing a workout partner however:

- I just switched from NYSC to David Barton in Chelsea and yes it's the greatest and gayest gym ever. In my first day there I saw

The Cooper (first name Anderson)
Mo Rocca (Daily Show)
Jason Bellini (Logo)
Itay Hod (Logo and HOOOOOOT)
possibly Ian Somerhalder (sp?) - if not it was his f'n twin.
At least 2 Porn Stars
2+ Real Jock People that are on my "Hot List"

- My new gym is pretty f'n ridiculous. Serially.

But good luck, if you ever just want to work out there I'd give you a free day pass.

Do you see how you are calling a large number of people on the site not real athletes and not jocks? That's why you were "attacked." You could have worded your request in a way that wouldn't disparage people that you aren't interested in working out with.

And while the wikipedia definition is nice (<- sarcasm), I think most of us would prefer Realjock's usage:
RealjockRealJock is an online meeting place for gay men looking to connect with other gay men who share their interest in fitness and a healthy life.
