Anyone else going to brave the heat and humidity? This will be our first year at Houston Pride, although some good friends are giving us the VIP treatment.

Meetup during the festival?

You'll enjoy it. It's alot of fun, especially since its at night...

I'm gonna be there....heading home (Galveston) to visit my Mom and plan on coming back into town (Houston) Saturday and going to the parade with my X and his new beau then, back to Dallas Sunday morning as duty calls Monday morning.

Wow, I'm completely underwhelmed by the lack of RJ Houston pride.

I'll be there-more for the festival than the parade though.

There's some fashion show at Meteor this Friday night that I'll be at, but I'll be missing everything happening Saturday during the day.

I'm actually heading down tomorrow and will just make a long weekend of it. Not sure about the days but most like the nights will be around that area. I'll be the short redhead in the crowd...

I am planning to be at the parade, although don't know how long I can handle the heat. I had to go to the bar to cool down in the middle of the parade the last couple of years, and ended up staying there

I used to live in Houston, was there when the parade switched to nighttime. I loved the lights we would put on the floats.

You'll have a lot of fun! Enjoy.

I am leaning toward a meet-up toward the latter part of the day (maybe 5ish), perhaps at the Pride Oasis (i.e., beer tent). Other suggestions?

Where precisely is that tent?

I think it should be marked fairly clearly at the festival. I hear it's even air conditioned.

I believe the Pride Oasis will be located at Yoakum and Lovett. Let's say between 5 - 6pm.

In other words, right in front of Covenant House?

Sounds good to me, not like I know where the hell that is. I doubt I'll be there before 6pm though. I'll know what my plans for the evening are sometime tonight.

Sounds good. Why don't we say 6pm at the Pride Oasis, then? The link I provided, earlier, links to an interactive Google map that shows all of the key landmarks for the Pride event. Not hard to find, at all. If you know where the Half Price Books, Hollywood Video and Kroger are near the intersection of Westheimer and Montrose, the festival is right in that area. Yoakum is a block west of Montrose. The Pride Oasis is on Yoakum about a block south of Westheimer. Parking will be a bitch, and since you're arriving late, you may want to grab a cab.

Google Map

I think that the festival technically ends at 7pm, but I'm sure we'll be able to roam the gayborhood w/the RJ kidz club until the parade starts.

Who else is comin'?

I'll be there closer to 6:30. I'll be coming with a friend who's marching in the parade so he'll just drop me off at the Pride Oasis.

Hope to see a bunch of RJers there tonight!

I may wander past the area from Chances to Mary's after 6. Look for the guy with the sleeveless burnt orange T shirt (facial hair gone now).

I rarely attend the parade anymore, I don't care for pushy drunken crowds. Besides, I had to cut my leg workout short that morning when my heart started racing too much, and I needed to rest.

Hope you guy's had a good time....I never made it to the parade...my X and I went to Memorial Park on Saturday afternoon and went dirt-biking until almost dusk...came back to his place, went swimming, went to dinner and I was in bed by 10:30 p.m....drove back to Dallas yesterday morning......got several drunk-text's from friends Saturday night saying "Where are you?"

D'oh!

We were back at the tent by 5:30 and hung around for about an hour but I didn't recognize anyone. Although, I did see several shirtless guys by the fence and another group over by the umbrella tables which could have all been members here from their physiques.

As I said, I was the short red head slathered in sunscreen.
