Years ago I found a site that people who find fake profiles of themselves go and expose the fake profile and also verify they are actually the person in the photo(s) being used.

Does anyone know about this site? I've tried to find it again but with no luck.

I'm not looking to report a profile, just wanted to see if this guy is in there before I ask him WTF

(has nothing to do with any profiles here at realjock)

My question is why would you care if a profile is fake or not in the first place?

About two years ago a guy I had chatted a few times to informed me someone with pictures of me had hit on him.


It was unsettling to think someone was impersonating me...

Most fake profiles you can find are in Adam4Adam.com site.

I was just chatting a few days ago with someone on here who turned out to be a complete fake. All of his pics can be found on an Aussie gay porn website.

He was charming, sweet, and ridiculously good looking which made me sad to find out I was the fool.

Impersonating others is absolutely wrong.

I've found it's just easier to have hard rules about anyone who's not verified. Basically, if you're unverified, you have to be able to prove who you are with a cam. If you don't have a cam, you have to be able to send me a pic text from your phone and/or show me your myspace or something that shows people know you. When someone's unable or unwilling to meet any of those criterion, there is something rotten in realjock.

I sometimes wish there was "FAKE" button you could click on a person's profile that just smacks of 'too good to be true.' I would imagine after getting 40 or 50 of those, either the person would leave or at least new people would be able to see a big "caveat emptor" right away.

Yeah, I always wonder about the hot looking dudes who are not verified..OK, if your that hot, know how to upload pics and it doesnt take any extra time to send for verification, like WTF?!?! Fake it screams!!

I gotta agree, once you upload a face pic, you should have no problem getting verified.

What if someone you struck up an online friendship with turned out to be someone completely different? You wouldn't feel a bit pissed?

not to sound conceited; i say this only to give my perspective on the subject of identity theft: i get hit up with messages weekly by random ppl telling me of profiles that are using my pictures to misrepresent themselves, or similarly they ask if i'm in craigslist (which i'm not) and then inform me that someone's using my pix there. it was mildly, albeit creepily flattering at first, but now its just frustrating. i hate the thought of all the people out there who are being douches from behind my face.

and i don't get it- if you're using someone's pix to conceal the reality of your own sorry hideousness so that people will talk to you online ('cause god knows they don't in real life)... what's to be gained? so many of the profiles i've found that steal pix are very explicit in their propositions for a hookup.... but it follows that when someone goes to meet them, they'll find that the person is unforgivably ugly and dishonest- not at all the person displayed in their profile. do they hope that this won't, in fact, be a deal breaker? that the relatively attractive person they've lured to them will think, 'oh... wow, well, ok... i guess i'm here anyways, i may as well follow through. could you put this bag over your head?' honestly, any clarification on this would be illuminating.

Well a friend of mine on Myspace had his picture "borrowed" by someone on RJ, and by a 17 year old on MySpace. He also had his shirt lifted showing very defined abdominal muscles. Abs must be in this season!

I will never bother to verify my pictures. First of all I am taken, and secondly if anybody thinks I am "faking" pictures like the ones from my childhood and teen years then they have serious issues!

Yeah, I like the idea of "verified", but I just can't make myself take a picture of me holding a piece of paper basically saying "please accept me...I'm real".
I know who I am. I'm not here to find a husband or boyfriend, so it's not that big a deal to me if I'm considered "verified" or not....besides a few of you know me in my "real life", so....well.....there you go.

That's not true. There was a faker that I got banned from the site who had started accumulating a bunch of forum posts. He's also created other profiles on here and I've seen him posting from them as well.

Just checked out fakersbusted.com - interesting site! I saw a few pics on there that are also posted here on Realjock - but how do I know if the guy on here is a faker or the original??? I guess if he's not verified on here that's pretty damning evidence, but not conclusive...

Maybe Realjock needs a fakers list!

I've had that happen to me on hotornot before and it didn't bother me. I just contacted the site admin and had them remove it and I joined and added the real me to it, so that took care of that.

I personally don't care what they say the fake me likes to do, I know what I like to do and don't, seriously it's just online, as long as you've got the real you safely secured, then why worry about it?

I never get upset unless I actually meet them in person and even then it'll take a lot to make me upset, I think you need to relax a little and don't take things like this too seriously. It seems everyone else isn't taking this to heart.

If they turn out to be someone their are not, it's not skin off my back, it's that person who has to try and live up to someone their are not.

We're going to have to agree to disagree then. I don't "worry" about it since it hasn't happened to me, but if it did, I wouldn't be as nonchalant about it as you seem to be. I wouldn't want someone seeing my picture on a fake profile and thinking, "I know him. I didn't know he was into slutty backback anonymous hookups."

I just don't understand the fake profile thing. Whats the point? What does someone really have to gain with a faked profile. If its attention, its all a sham!

Well, some people of genuinely duplicitous and make fake profiles for the pure joy they receive from causing trouble. Some people do it to collect photos from duped strangers for their personal porn and jack off collection. Not everyone is good or nice.

So some assholes need kicked, not just fucked.

Okay, so, I've thought about becoming verified just for the sake of reassuring people that I am indeed real ... but there are a couple of things that make me hesitate, such as showing up on the front page. So, while I might (and also take some face pics from my private pics and put them in the public ones), I also feel that I could just as easily use one of the methods that Innerathlete proposed, and I have done so. Perhaps I am too trusting, just because of my nature, and so I don't assume anyone's profile is fake, unless of course they fit GQjock's description, with one picture and no description. I, too, don't understand fake profiles ... the whole idea just seems malicious.

I think that it is very damn sad that we now have to prove that our profiles and photos are the real thing thanks to a few jerks that love to steal one's photos and place them in their fake profiles. Why do I have to verify that my profile is real when I like the overwhelming majority of realjocks is honest in the first place. If you are honest, then there is no legitimate need for profile verification.

I won't care, I mean life is to short to deal with all this crap and I wouldn't worry at all about it. I know I don't and even if the cops got involved they would see that I don't either, so really if your want to get stressed over something then you will. Disagree. People have a right to privacy for what ever reason they want it to be. Verification can be taken care of in private if thats your thing. Be honest about wanting to see who's verified.
