Have any of you mid/long distance runners tried that Accelerade drink advertising a 4:1 ratio of carbs to protein? I usually stick to old fashioned water or diluted Gatorade before a run and was wondering if anyone has experienced any benefit from this new product. Marketing genius or athletic fuel?

My partner and I use it on occasion, more often now that we live in AZ. Usually we will just do water and perhaps an energy gel later on, but Accelerade is good. It's not really sweet, per se, but it is a little tricky to dissolve properly. IT'S NASTY WHEN IT GETS WARM!!!!

What I use is ELoad. I find this is better than gatorade and is great for when training and racing in the heat.

Check out the website.

Its a great product that has definitely made the heat a little more bareable. It is also a lot easier on the stomach than gatorade and powerade because it isnt as sweet.

the key is finding what you like, and your stomach. having the protein is good especially in the heat. i use infinity, where you can create your mix of carbs, protein, electrolytes, and flavor. it's awesome.

I'm definitely not an expert but have used Accelerade. Those were the two marathons where I posted PB's. It claims to improve performance by something like 29%.

That is a crock of BS but I do think for me it helped, or liked to believe it did.
