Let's share some gay art. Could be by a gay artist or gay art itself. I will now look through my archives for something good.

A painting a did a couple years ago. It wasn't meant to be "gay art" but I guess it kinda is. Very amateur painter here, but i do enjoy it nonetheless. This one has a lot of meaning/emotion for me because of where I was in my life when I did it.

I think yours and DreamBig's art are great so leave them there buddy!!

I personally dont paint and this art expo (Gilbert and George) is the first one I see from a gay couple! well I really think they are gay, even my younger brother kept asking me are they gay? or are they a couple? I really liked their work and its currently showing at the Deyoung museum in SF golden gate park.

Check it out!

P.S. Im not into scat.....nasty!

Gonna have to talk technique with you offboard on this one as I have just done a blue painting and Im haviong a hard time with fleshtones for the face more than the body!!!! At the moment he looks like a geisha!!!!!

I hate to say this Kozmeka but The Tate modern is 5 minutes from where I work and I often go there at lunch time, a friend of mine took me to see this Gilbert and george exhibition and the new one. I have to say their art, whilst it is Unique really disturbs me but not in an emotionaly pleasing way.

I got to see the Renoir exhibition at the National and taht was a site to be seen!

Shall have to look up some of my gay art links as I lost most when my pc crashed, and finding tasteful art of male Torsos without a huge throbbing penis leaping out the canvas is somewhat a hard task!

Thats what Im using at the second, I love oil but the smell makes me heave!

the last two are both done with water-based oils. They are cool cause you get the feel of oil without the smell, messy clean-up, and long drying times (usually takes a couple days to dry, instead of like 2 weeks).

I have some of my art up on my profile....nice work bfg1 and rhythm1438!

I thought I would put up some stuff not on my profile. I did my senior thesis using the same concept of the bananas...I actually used apples for the final thesis. Anyways, I was an Art Therpap major and the point of the painting was to give fruit emotions by making up a story with them. So the first story goes from the top painting to the middle. The second is the bottom to the middle. So the middle piece is the ending to 2 different stories. It was a fun project.

It is actually from Silent Hill 2. I had a lot fun with it.

It's funny it kind of grew more meaning as time went on. The painting coincided with my coming out. So I kind of see it as coming out.

You have to upload the image file to a webserver, like photobucket.com and then, on the forums, you display the image with standard HTML:

<img src="http://www.webserver.com/username/image.jpg">

Simply replace http://www.webserver.com/username/image.jpg with the URL of the image file you want to display.

Bleh. No scanner for my trad art.

Click the thumbnails to view original resolution

Anyway, two of my 2d digital art (note I am still not very good at it, and I did both of these with a mouse, I don't have a tablet):

Despair - A speedpainting I did. Supposed to portray the emotion. Meh, I dunno If I got it. LOL. Strangely, I also wrote a short story about a bad coming out at about the same time I did this:

Free Image Hosting at allyoucanupload.com

Suppression - an entry I did for a concept art contest. I lost But I learned a lot about Digital 2d making this. Portrays a post-apocalytpic civilization with a tribal culture. It's a public execution:

Free Image Hosting at allyoucanupload.com

And here are just SOME of my 3d work:

(Note the renders aren't mine, they were done by our art director, but the focus of the following renders are my works)

The fighter-bomber in the foreground is my work (concept, mesh, texture):

Free Image Hosting at allyoucanupload.com

Again, the ship is a carrier, the mesh and texture is mine, but the original concept is by another artist friend of mine.

Free Image Hosting at allyoucanupload.com

The massive station is my work - texture, mesh, concept. Inspired by Islamic architecture. The ships in the foreground are from teammates.

My favourite gay artist just got to be Walter Spies. The German painter who before WW11 went to live in the island of Bali. Among the colour and intoxicated beauty of the Island of Gods. His life is so romantic and sound like a dream adventure to me. Living among tropical paradise , surrounded by bronze Bali Boys, gamelan music, ancient Hindu culture and dead gorgoues scenery.
To bad it all ended when he got arrested during the war for being a homosexual. And the ship taken him a prisoner to Ceylon(Sri Lanka now) was torpedo by the Japanese and sank.

Rhythm, I love the third painting.

I really love robaroma's. Of all the painting styles I like, it's realistic surrealism that gets to me every time. Magritte especially.

My painting Despair is subliminally influenced by Salvador Dali. heh. I didn't even notice it until someone pointed it out.

Anyway, I found an old picture of a sketch of mine... on a class notebook LOL. I might refine this someday. It's a tribal warrior. I sketched it during a boring two hour lecture in school last year (November 2007 I think, click thumbnail to enlarge):

Free Image Hosting at allyoucanupload.com

I'm good at lineart and pencil sketches in traditional media, but I have yet to make a watercolor/oil/acrylic painting. So I take my hat off to the guys here working in traditional media. Personally I prefer digital 2d. It's just as difficult, but you get to have the option of undoing mistakes, which is what I love most about digital.

So much of the gay art (meaning using gays as the subject of the art), not necessarily in this thread, seems to be overtly sexual or sad. There must be other emotions that we feel that artists can represent.

Steve Walker is one of my favorites who uses gay people as subjects in his art.

I started working out so I could pose for myself... you could always do that. But then again you could ask some of your friends. I've met a couple of guys at the gym who eventually posed for me. The winged man in my sketches (see my last post on this thread) is actually a friend of mine from the gym.

Again just a very very amature starting out but doing this one for a friend. Havent finished yet as am now adding some finer detail to the border to tie the picture in more. Very camp I know but thats the idea of it

Powertrip, your pictures aren't showing up. You need to upload them to an image hosting website, like photobucket.

A friend and I tried to start a gay/lesbian greeting card business, but it was just too costly. Aside from some inventory, I have all the images (I was the main photographer).

Thanks, boiwunderkind. This discussion is inspiring me to fire up the greeting card website one more time.

would be nice to see some tasteful ones done caramelized rather than all the sleezy garbage out there at the second

I thought this pic was pretty hot. I'm not sure how to do this, so lets hope it posts.

I thought I'd share some of my art, although I'm not a painter, my partner and I make our living as "designer machinists" and create our own line of steel jewelry by hand-fabrication on manual lathes and mills. These are some of my favorite things we've done recently! The last pic is of me making stuff on the lathe and a shot of our store. You can see more stuff at

Yep, we ship globally, and if you're interested in trying some of our stuff I'd recommend our pendant of the month--each month we do one of our necklaces for just $40, and this month's is a cool rectangle pendant with copper stripes in it. Here it is:

Here's a little shameless plug about Spexton:

When you see steel jewelry on the market it is virtually always mass-produced on computerized machines. Spexton, however, is made entirely without such help, and each item we craft is a handmade original. When you buy our stuff you're supporting a gay couple who live and work above our studio living our dream of self employment!

I posted the images from one of my blogs, sometimes they show on RJ and sometimes they don't. I made some changes in the original post in the blog and now the pics appear here... maybe it was some glitch or something. Thanks for the tip paradox, if the problem persists I'll use a photobucket account or something.

So, how do you guys like my drawings? Anyone wanna pose?

Timberoo, what program do you use to achieve those nudes? In fact, what software programs are any of you using? I'd like to start illustrating and drawing nudes via my computer besides the traditional pencil/charcoal way I've been doing it, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Vince

I switched from Poser to DazStudio. It's a free download from daz3d.com. They also have a free content package you can download to play around with.
