i'm always wondering if taller guys like shorter guys or do they just think of them as midgets? i'm 5'6, is that short?

I'm considered short here in Minneapolis. I love being in NYC though. I'm pretty much average height.

A bit of a pain in the butt to find my friends in a crowd, but it's cool.

I don't get the height thing. It doesn't matter to me what height a guy is. It's a matter of proportion. If a guy's 5' to 6'6 (tallest gay man I've met) if he's hot, he's hot. I'm 6' and have been turned down just because I was too tall.

It was tough to find actors who are short AND good looking, but I was able to come up with these three:

Tom Cruise 5'7"
Emilio Estevez 5'7"
Ryan Phillippe 5'9"

5'7" on a good day here and love guys my height and taller. I don''t act like a short guy, but I would think it was weird if I was taller than a guy I was dated. Sure I would get used to it.

I Recently hung out with three gay guys who were 6'4", 6'7" and 7'1" I looked like a munchkin compared to them. But I think they dug my short crazy self.

Being short has its advantages, apparently you are almost always adorable from what I've been told. I've dated guys who were 6'7" and one who was 5'4", taller and shorter all have their pluses and minuses. Although being in a place where everyone is taller than the average does make me feel a munchkin sometimes.

I've always considered short to average height guys to be sexier than taller guys (above 5'11"). Especially if a shorter dude comes stocked with muscles -- HOT!!! Most other guys are strongly attracted to taller guys, but not me. I don't see the attraction. Plus, they're kind arrogant, too.

Get with it, dude, and don't let height be a deciding factor in a persons personality. It sounds insecure. I'm sorry if you had bad experiences with tall people (5'11 and above) but I assure you it wasn't their height that made them arrogant. Wouldn't you be considered tall since you prefer guys shorter then you?

No, I wouldn't consider taller dudes again. You're right: I did have pretty darn bad experiences with them, especially with their relentless, if not dorky "How's the weather down there?" humor. That wasn't witty or clever, but monotonous and inane. Besides, when I see a tall dude who is undeniably attractive and handsome, I not easily swayed by those attributes. Besides, I don't feel like reaching for a stool just to kiss such a person if I were open to date someone taller than me. Also, I'm not insecure -- I just know what I like.

You must've been around some really tall, asshole-ish guys because I doubt someone who was only 2 - 4" taller then you would make a comment like that. You are 5'10...that's a good height but hey if that's your bag then I guess you'll carry it. I hope you don't completely close yourself off to tall people based off of others attitudes towards you.

5'8" here, I've had good times with guys a lot taller & some shorter but prefer a mate who's more or less my own size...

that said, there's whole lot more to it than body type when it comes to fulfillment in relationship.

Well I'm 5'6 and think its a great height, i have had guys want to date me and they tell me they don't like short guys but I'm an exception. Just be yourself, i guess it would be my personality and besides that, I totally use my shorness to my advantage. Do you know how many guys look at me and say all your so little or your so cute, how old are you? It takes years off in my case, I get told I am 18 thats why i grow facial hair to show I am no boy, lol but dude I would never change my height at all.

I'm 6'4", and for most of my "out" life, I've been attracted to guys shorter than me -- no particular reason, although some friends have teased me about it being a fetish (which it isn't). However, there is something inexplicably sexy about a short man -- they often tend to be better proportioned than us tall, lanky guys...or maybe it's just that certain things often look bigger on them

Interestingly enough, I met someone who is about 5'9"...and is PHOBIC about people 6' and up! It literally freaks him out to be around them. Strange but true.

In his short defense, in GROUPS it can be rather terrifying if you have even mild claustrophobia.

Friend goes to bathroom and suddenly you're in a little box, alone, unable to see anything because on tip-toes you still can't see over their shoulders. Add some club crowding and it can be pretty freaky.

I am 5'5" and have no problem with my height anymore. When I was younger my neighbors in mexico would call me names, (chaparro, chaparrito, enano) wich all mean midget and they were not saying it in a bad way.

In Junior school I would be called the same and the one that pissed me off the most was when they would say to me "Hey this is not kindergarden go back to your school" That would get me into fights. I guess all that talk would get to me and made me feel bad so I was always trying to find ways getting taller like playing basket ball and jumping around the house reaching high points.

I think it work a bit but still feel short all though my height is not a problem for me anymore ( I guess guys like short )

I'm 6'2" so I'm totally o.k. when a guy is shorter than I am - in fact it is extremely unusual for me to date a guy who is taller than I am. If a guy is hot, bright, funny, upbeat, and all good things, who would kick him to the curb? Nobody can help what their height is - just go with it!

I'm actually on the opposite end of the spectrum from SoDakGuy. I'm originally from Minneapolis to and thought I was average height. Now I move to Texas and I'm like a giant. I can see over everyone's head.

Being 5'7, it kinda obvious that most guys are taller than you. I haved dated some guys near 6'4 and it was awkward because of the height difference. For me, I like guys that are plus/minus a couple of inches from my own height, but that's me. And yes, there's always an exception to any rule.

Count your blessings. I wear a 30/30. Most stores don't carry that many in this size since it's at the boundary of men and boys.

Having said that, I do have to say that most coach airline seats are completely built for my frame. I have no idea why, but it's nice.

Totally understand that one... I'm 6'5"... I will say that I am normally swinging more toward the 6' and up crowd but I don't rule guys out beacuse of it.

Im 3-10 and its an advantage and disadvantage. Because of the curiosity factor I do get talked to a lot , however most guys arent real serious about anything longterm. Not complaining though, I mean its not like Im groing 2 feet overnight, just got to deal.

I am 5'6"....Strangest date I ever had was with a tall(6'3") guy. It was a very intimate night and at a "key moment", with him kneeling in front of me, I saw some words in a tatoo on top of his head that I had not seen previously. If you have legit reasons I will totally understand. I just can't see how in life you are unhappy with your height. It hasnt stopped me from acheiving any of my goals!

I sometimes wish I were taller too. I close my eyes and imagine how easy life must be with a 32" inseam... On the other hand, I usually get a few envious comments on my calves at the gym. Good legs are one positive to being short.

I'm 5'7" and have usually dated/slept with/whatever men 6' and over. I think how tall or short someone appears (versus how tall or short they actually are) is owning more to presentation, their body, and their personality. This is why so many actors and singers are typically on the shorter side and yet seem so damned charismatic, sexy, and taller than they actually are.

Most famous people (actors at least) are relatively short - the reason they all look so buff is that it is easier for a shorter person to get muscled up and show size...

Yeah, I tend to gravitate towards guys that are close to my height. Being 5'9", guys my height are preferred, a little taller, or a little shorter.

Plus, at least to my eye, shorter guys that are athletic and built seem to carry it much better than a taller guy.

I'm short (5'5") and I've never really seen it as a negative. Then again, I think short guys are hot so it's never crossed my mind that being a shortie is a bad thing. My best friends HATE how short they are though (one is 5'4" and the other is 5'6", respectively). I just call them my "enanos" (Spanish for "midgets") and it pissed them off, which just makes me laugh .

I think guys are hot. Just in general. I've dated guys at all heights and I don't really care. I dated a guy who was 5'6" and he was just beautiful. I also dated a 6'4" hottie...doesn't matter to me.

Its totally about the attitude! I have a take no shit attitude and people respect that. I make sure I am seen and heard when I want to be. I don't need to be spotted through a crowd to be taken seriously!

yeah, it's funny. the danes/swedes are all so tall. i'm 5'11" and feel dwarfed whenever i'm around them.

and i've been attracted to both shorter and taller men. it is about attitude and the way you carry yourself. not being a jerk-off, but rather having a confidence about you.

I generally prefer guys a little shorter than me, but that's because I prefer to be the "snuggler" instead of the "snuglee." I've dated guys taller then me and still made it work though...but the shorties catch my eye first.

I'm 5'5"...Here in oklahoma that is pretty short, although I know a few guys shorter than me, and from a census I did when I was in highschool average height of the guys in the school was 5'10" and girls were 5'5". (school of about 1000 peple) The only relationship I've ever really been in was with a guy who was 6'5" and weighed 230 lbs (a full foot taller than me, and a full 75 pounds heavier at the time.) I have always been a tiny guy, even when I was a little kid, I hit and topped out at 5'5" my senior year of high school. Which was also when I met big guy. He wasn't necessarily the dominant person in the relationship, however he did like to feel like he was protecting me, and I liked feeling safe. I'm at a point that I don't really care how tall the guy is, I love big guys, but I also think that a compact guy is sexy. Never been called fun size... Travel size however.. One time I crawled into the big guys duffle and he just zipped it up joking that we could save a bundle on air fare if I could hold that pike from the car to the cargo hold of the plane. anyway, I'm not really sure that it actually matters...

At 5 8' I find myself still on the short side. Ducks disease runs on my pa's side. Gees he was just over 5 2" he also suffers a bit of the Napoleon complex. I just love long legs. With my build. I think it would of been better to be 6 foot.

I'm 5'9", which definitely isn't tall, but doesn't seem to be too short here in Vancouver. I could handle being taller, but I would probably wish for a bigger dick if I had one wish. I suspect I'd enjoy that much more than being a few inches taller. Or was that a little too much information?

I'm 5'10 or 5'9, though my boots(duty, not shit kickers) prevent proper measurements.. so maybe 5'7-8 without footwear? I think I'm right there at Average.

I like being me but I distinctly remember wanting to be taller at one point. It was probably this customer I had in the gunshop, you know them bastards that are so tall, you have to crick your neck, and damn near bend over backwards, to look 'em in the eyes? Well he was one of them, Nevada was his name.
He was from a ranching family hereabouts, and I sold him guns to blast defensless woodland creatures, and like all of them he wore tight jeans. What's up with that anyhow? I always try to work in my denim shorts; jeans are too restrictive.

But yeah: Tall cowboys = good. Short stocky dudes = good. Neckbrace required = bad.

I am 5'7" and I am comfortable with that. In high school I longed to be a six footer and never got that growth spurt to achieve it--family genetics! But I figure that by working out, running, and generally living an active and healthy lifestyle compensates for anything I may lack vertically. But I agree with Treader that shopping for pants is a challenge. It's hard to find a 28 or 29 waist size

At 6'6" i think short guys are fun... they are like the perfect "travel sized boyfriend"... but in all honesty, i think the shorter guys are better proportioned

Wow! Lot's of shorter guys speaking up here, where are all the tallies? Being into bods, I find shorter guys can be very attractive (especially in pics) since it is much easier for them to look muscled - but I respect a tall man that is buff and equally proportioned. It takes alot more work to lift when you have long limbs and it builds serious strength. Most of my friends are tall, mostly because we know each other through sports and tend to do things that use our height to our advantage. I would never limit myself to guys based on height though, if he has Leo's bedroom eyes I am a gonner.

I say i'm 5 even though actually i'm 4'11.5" in texas where i live i'm considered a midget cause i'm under 5 foot. But i've had my share of tall partners tallest being 6'2" (though i've had 4 this tall).
