Rupert Everett: Too old to be gay?

Another day, another victim of Hollywood: At only 47 years of age, Rupert Everett seems to think he's too old to be gay.
The handsome actor, one of only a few openly gay men to make it on the silver screen, told Britain's Daily Telegraph magazine that he thinks he is single because young gay men aren't interested in dating someone older than them.
Everett told the Daily Telegraph, "Unfortunately, I am single, yes, but I'm too exhausted for anything else and being gay is a young man's game."
"Now no one wants me," Everett said. "Being gay and being a woman has one big thing in common, which is that we both become invisible after the age of 42. Who wants a gay 50-year-old? No one let me tell you."
(Editor's Note: Everett apparently is not familiar with web sites like DaddyHunt, where 50-, 60- and 70-something-year-old gay men are meeting young gay men who think older guys are the hottest thing around.)
The Daily Telegraph was just one of several media outlets the actor spoke to in promotion of his new autobiography, Red Carpets and Other Banana Skins, for which he reportedly received a seven-figure advance. The autobiography has fans of trash gossip excited for its dishy yet introspective talk of Hollywood and homophobia. For reviews of the book, check out The Advocate and The Independent.

IMHO this speaks volumes about how Mr Everett feels about himself.
I saw him on Graham Norton awhile back and I have to say....the man looked depressed.
Something was going on behind the facade. I remember reading an article where he said
he could be a difficult sometimes. ( It actually sounded more like he was pretty high maintenance
and very stand offish ) Exhibiting these attributes would turn off any man. Young or old ! Perhaps
Mr Everett needs to find some self love and maybe then he'll be open to receive it in return ?

Knowing Rupert, it's probably his way of sparking a RUSH of sudden interest and sudden emails to flood his inbox... And why not? It's better than paying for a personal on gay.com, am I right?
Hey, Rupert... if you're reading these (or if anyone you know is sending these to you)...
My name is Ben... 29 y/o, handsome actor/photographer, been wanting you badly for at least 15 years now, think you're both sliced bread AND butter...
Hey, Rupert, you got a pen??? Take this down... NewtowneBoy@aol.com
Got that? Lemme know... Drinks... Coffee... Iced Tea... Impromptu photo session with just you, me, and my camera?
Don't be shy! ;)

I'm really supposed to believe that a gorgeous, rich, famous 47-year-old feels "invisible"? Yeah, right. I'm 49 and not a movie star, but I still seem to attract men of a variety of ages. Perhaps when he claims nobody wants a gay 50-year-old, he really means he doesn't want one.

I completely dissagree with Rupert - you just have to know where to go. The GrayGay Guide on GrayGay.com includes over 2500 places worldwide where older men and their admirers are welcomed as well as reviewing over 25 dating sites for this age group plus the latest news and many other resources and links.

I'm 49 and think Rupert is a nice looking man.I came out at 40, so i understand his issue with age and younger guys, but i think older men that keep themselves up and in shape, are much hotter than the young guys. I read in a recent magazine, age 50 for the baby boomers, is the new 30. People in general are looking better older, if they stay in shape.Don't give up Rupert, you are a hot man, baby!

I am fifty, and I do agree with Rupert Everett, it is true with the exeption of a few websites, most of the time people in our age group feel invisible. I agree with everthing Mr. Everett states, I have experienced it first hand. I am an average person, If a celebrity who is as handsome as Rubert Everett feels that way --- what chance do the rest of us have?

I am 56 years old and I have great sex with much younger mates, but I admit it, as you grow older it becomes more difficult and too many folks are swayed by the age factor.
Daddyhunt or silverdaddies are two great places to look...

Please tell Rupert that it ain't that way in Cairo, Egypt. Rupert should look up his old acquaintance, Todd, if he remembers me from his Haiti trip to Ambo's house and drop by for a look-see himself...I am in Cairo and can happily refute his statement.
